Ishoel & Renheim looking good for raceday

Renheim_Marica_I_SNX_FIN_2016-04-09The second rounds of the FIM Snowcross World Championship and the FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup burst into life today in Alta, Norway.

Wintery conditions set the tone as rain dampened the venue, but not the mood. The riders from both championships went out for two practice sessions each, where they enjoyed tearing up the freshly built snowcross track, which held up relatively well given the conditions.

In 6 degree Celsius temperatures, a surprise contender who didn’t race the first round in Finland, Ski-Doo’s Elias Ishoel, blitzed everyone in both sessions. The round one winner, also riding Ski-Doo, Adam Renheim was the second most consistent out on track with his third place in the first session which he improved in the final session and jumped to second place. Polaris’ Nisse Kjellstrom punched in two fourth place results while Ski-Doo’s Oskar Norum was killing it in the first session where he banked second but fell back to sixth in the final round.

Meanwhile, after the first round of the FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup Ski-Doo’s Marica Renheim, Lynx’ Emilia Dahlgren and Artic Cat’s Malene Andersen proved they were going to be the main players in this years championship. Backing up their solid performances at round one, all three topped the charts in their practice sessions today with Renheim being the most dominant, going fastest in both, while Andersen was second fastest in the first session but knocked back to third in the final session of the day by Dahlgren.

Following the practice sessions, the riders went into the city of Atla for a presentation where they were able to meet their fans and sign autographs. They attracted an awesome crowd who were also pumped to watch the Freestyle show which also took place where the two Freestylers were backflipping their snowmobiles. Tomorrow the qualifying races will take place in the morning followed by the semi-finals and the finals.
