Jonny Walker wins British Extreme Enduro Round at Cowm Quarry

2015 Erzberg Rodeo_0292Jonny Walker made a winning return to the ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship, topping the second round of the ‘Eddy’s Xtreme’ series at Cowm Quarry, England.

With the SuperEnduro World Championship in full swing Walker opted to race the Extreme Enduro event on home soil on a 250fmachine, to better prepare himself for the remaining four rounds of the indoor series.

Cowm Quarry’s rocky and slippery tracks proved to be anything but easy, but it didn’t take long for Walker to establish a healthy race lead. Maintaining a fast and consistent pace throughout the event, Walker managed to secure the win by finishing more than three minutes head of second-placed David Knight.

Walker will next be in action on February 20, contesting the third round of the 2016 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Pinamar, Argentina.

Jonny Walker: “Overall it was a good day. Conditions were demanding but I found a good rhythm and enjoyed it. I didn’t make the best of starts and was fifth for the first few corners. When I caught David Knight I realised I had a faster pace, so I overtook him and kept pulling time on him in every lap. I decided to race the British Extreme Enduro round as part of my preparation for the SuperEnduro series. That’s also why I chose the KTM 250 EXC-F four-stroke bike. During the season there’s not much time to get used to the 300cc two-stroke and I didn’t want to change two weeks before the SuperEnduro in Argentina. I’m really looking forward to returning to indoor racing. It feels like a long time since I last raced a SuperEnduro event.”
