The first round of the new and exciting 2013/2014 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship will be held at the Echo Arena, Liverpool in the United Kingdom on the 17th November 2013. Here is an advance look at what lies ahead for competitors and spectators this November…
ABC Communication working in co-operation with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) are building, developing and enhancing the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in a similar way to how the FIM Enduro World Championship was successfully improved, by slowly increasing the attraction, variety and location of all the future championship rounds and the Echo Arena will the first example of this.
The Echo Arena is an award-winning building located on the world-famous Liverpool waterfront. It was opened in January 2008; the same year that Liverpool was designated The European Capital of Culture by the European Union. With final construction costs of approx £165M (€193M at the current exchange rate) the Echo Arena is one half of a unique structure, which includes an equal-sized BT Convention Centre. Further expansion of the waterfront site is already underway, with the construction of a supplementary Multi-Purpose Exhibition Centre, which will also host shows, large sporting events and pop/rock concerts. The Echo Arena sits alongside the famous Grade 1 listed Albert Dock complex and the World Heritage Site on the Eastern bank of the River Mersey, almost in the very heart of Liverpool City Centre itself.
The first round of the 2013/2014 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship at the Echo Arena will feature both the Junior and Prestige classes as outlined in the 2013 FIM SuperEnduro Rulebook, but it will also be the first round of the 2013/2014 FIM SuperEnduro World Cup which is exclusively for Female competitors! The current (outdoor) Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship has already seen the popularity of the Women’s World Enduro series with both competitors, spectators & TV alike and the UK Organising Team at the Echo Arena are delighted to be able to host the first ever event in this new form of indoor racing.
Further variety provided by this UK SuperEnduro Event is a packed schedule that includes some guest appearances plus SuperEnduro Racing (Cycling), which will share approx 85-90% of the same indoor course used by the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. Many off-road cyclists already compete in outdoor cross-country events throughout the World, but this unique adventure allows them to now race alongside each other for outright glory on a very challenging track, all within an indoor Arena for the very first time!
