In it’s 20 years long history, Erzbergrodeo has established itself as THE international World Xtreme Enduro offroad motorcycle event. Each year, more than 1500 competitors and several thousand companions from up to 40 nations, as well as 40000 motorsports enthusiasts get on their way to the small town of Eisenerz to challenge an infamous mountain called Erzberg. The four-day event with it’s festival-like characteristic has build up a reputation well known all over the world and has become a serious economical force for the whole region around the “Iron Giant”.
The Red Bull Hare Scramble is both the highlight and Grand Finale of the Erzbergrodeo. The 4-hours long dirtbike race is regarded as the biggest and toughest single-day race in World Xtreme Enduro sports. Even some of the world’s elite motorcycle offroad riders fail because of the extremely difficult and ruthless track design, which is at the same time the main reason for the highly international and exclusive starting grid. In cooperation with Red Bull Media House, the unique race will be broadcasted LIVE at ServusTV and redbull.com again in 2014.
With the first live-broadcast of the Red Bull Hare Scramble 2012, Erzbergrodeo and Red Bull Media House treaded new paths. The Iron Giant is a serious challenge not only for the competitors, so the very first live-broadcast of a World Xtreme Enduro race definitely turned some heads. Due to the inaugural success, the live-broadcast of the 2013 edition was a fast and undisputable decision. Amongst really harsh weather conditions, the Red Bull Hare Scramble 2013 became an exciting live-broadcast event on TV and in the web.
2014 will see another live-broadcast of the worldwide unique race at ServusTV and redbull.com, featuring a further optimized set-up and an unique employment of man and material. The efforts behind the 6-hours long live-broadcast on Sunday, June 1st are truly amazing: 18 live-cameras, 20 camera locations, 12000 meters (!) of glass fiber cable, a cable traverse of 1000 meter length, Phantom high-speed footage and live-footage from a helicopter-cam. GoPro helmet cams mounted on many of the top-riders will transmit breathtaking footage right from the middle of the action during the race.
The characteristics of the Red Bull Hare Scramble definitely shape the structure of the ambitious broadcast project and make it absolutely unique. It’s not only the top-riders from the first row of the starting grid who will be featured during the broadcast, but the ambitious amateur riders from last row as well. While the international superstars fight up front for the prestigious win of the race, the cameras will also look back on the main grid where riders struggle just to conquer the mountain and survive the challenges of the track itself. There is no other motorsports event in the world, in which amateurs and factory riders compete shoulder to shoulder on the same track!
The german speaking live-broadcast at ServusTV and servustv.com will be commented by Christian Brugger, who will be supported by Rallye racer and Erzbergrodeo insider Kris Rosenberger. Constanze Weiss will host the broadcast on ServusTV, adding interviews from the start- and finish-area as well as interesting facts and infos to the broadcast. The international live-broadcast at redbull.com will be once again commented by none other than legendary motorcycle sports commentator Jack Burnicle, featuring support by 6-times Red Bull Hare Scramble Finisher Darryl Curtis from South Africa.
