After an amazing start in the Echo Arena in Liverpool where we saw a total domination of Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM), the SuperEnduro elite will take place on Sunday, December 15th in the Atlas Arena in Lodz (Poland), more than an hour of Warsaw.
For the 3rd consecutive year, the Lodzki Klub Motorowy, chaired by Marek BRYGIDER, and the Polski Zwiazek Motorowy (PZM) will organize a round of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in their fief of the Atlas Arena.
The Atlas Arena, SuperEnduro stronghold…
The fans of the SuperEnduro know really well this arena. Indeed, for two times already, the stars faced up in the Polish arena where the atmosphere is gained to the cause of Taddy BLAZUSIAK, true icon in his country. But, in addition to this Motorcycle event, the Atlas Arena, with a capacity of 12 000 seats, has already welcomed others great sports events like the Basketball European Championship and also the World league and European Championship of Volleyball. Well equipped, this arena has 11 VIP boxes that will be perfect to attend to the 2nd round of the SEWC 2013/2014…
Lodz, Poland’s third largest city is located in a region with the same name in central Poland. This charming city of about 750,000 inhabitants is located 130 kilometers southwest of Warsaw and 260 kilometers north of Krakow. Although once renowned for its textile industries, Lodz is nowadays a rapidly developing city, which is marked by the tragedies of history and economic difficulties. It puts communication of its multicultural heritage and the organization of important major events within its strategy to overcome difficulties of the past…
KNIGHT is hungry…
Unsurprisingly, Taddy BLAZUSIAK will be the big favorite of this 2nd round. Author of a perfect Sunday in Liverpool (3 wins plus the Super Pole), the four time World Champ has already a 18 points lead advantage ahead of his runner-up David KNIGHT (GB – Sherco). Moreover, BLAZUSIAK will be in front of nearly 10 000 spectators fully to his cause… But this year, his great rival David KNIGHT is hungry and really wants to shake the supremacy of the Polish on the handlebar of his Sherco in which he feels easier… This duel should result in intense finals… But the KTM rider will also have to keep an eye on Dani GIBERT (E – Husaberg), actually 3rd in the Championship, who improve on each heat. Evidenced by his impressive comeback on KNIGHTER in Liverpool! Alfredo GOMEZ (E – HVA) will be also one to follow. He really wants to fight to the podium that he can’t reach for only 4 points in the Echo Arena… On his side, Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM) will have to do a lot more after a deceiving Grand Prix of United Kingdom. We’ll attend also the debut of Danny MCCANNEY (GB) on his Official Beta while we are waiting much more from Joakim LJUNGGREN (S – HVA), Kyle REDMOND (USA – KTM), Ivan CERVANTES (E – KTM) and Kevin ROOKSTOOL (USA – KTM) and that Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA), Mario ROMAN (E – Husaberg) and Andreas LETTENBICHLER (D – KTM) will continue their learning of the discipline… We’ll have also to give an interest to Slovak Thomas HOSTINSKY (Husaberg), Hungarian Kornel NEMETH (KTM), French Benoit FORTUNATO (Yamaha) and Ger man Edward HUBNER (Yamaha) if they manage to get out of the maze of qualifications.
In the Under 23 years old class, the fight will be tough between the actual leader Jamie MCCANNEY (GB – HVA) and his first runner-up Andreas LINUSSON (S – KTM). Only 4 points separates those two riders who have participated to their first SuperEnduro Grand Prix in Liverpool… Giacomo REDONDI (I – KTM) and Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM) should join this duel for the win with a big advantage for the Polish who will have an entire arena cheering for him. We’ll have also to count on Magnus THOR (S – KTM), 5th in the standing, who is still threatening and constant… Adam TOMICZEK (PL – KTM), Rafal BRACIK (PL – KTM) and also Christopher STROMGREN (S – Husaberg) will ha d some spice to this race like Jesper BORJESSON (S – HVA) and Tim APOLLE (D – Husaberg) will…
Who will benefit from the absence of Laïa?
Initially starting lineup announced, Laïa SANZ (E – Honda) will not participate to this Grand Prix while she is leading the World Cup. Four girls are ready to get this victory that is waiting for them. Indeed, Emma BRISTOW (GB – Sherco) will be present under the dome of the Atlas Arena and will have a small psychological advantage over the three others contenders to the final win: Jane DANIELS (GB – HVA), Sandra GOMEZ (E – Husaberg) and Louise FORSLEY (USA – KTM). To this quartet who should electrify the arena, we also have to add the German Maria FRANKE (Kawasaki) who’s coming to try her luck just like the Polish Natalia SNIADA (KTM), Anna WYGACHIEWICZ (KTM), Ewelina SZKUDLAREK (Suzuki) and the South African Toni JARDINE (KTM).
After a Grand Prix of United Kingdom that saw Taddy BLAZUSIAK sending a clear message to all his rivals, the question is now to know if KNIGHT and others can answer on Sunday, December 15th in the Atlas Arena. See you from 13.30 where the stars of the SEWC are waiting for you once again for more suspens and a Taddy hunt… under pressure! Show guaranteed!
