Antonio Cairoli wins Italian International Championship race RD01

Antonio Cairoli Italian international Motocross Championship - Riola 2014 (2)12.000 people have been the spectators at the exciting debut of Internazionali d’Italia 2014. On the wonderful track of “Le Dune” crossdome, the top riders of international motocross choose to race again this championship as final super-test before the beginning of the World championship.

Today everyone was waiting not only for the debut of bikes and riders on track, but also inside paddock to see the preview of new bikes and riders liveries of the 2014 motocross season.

The choice of Riola track showed to be successful even in this second edition. Despite the rain, during the last week and also today, the track remained perfectly fair, allowing the regularity of the race. So it has been a double right choice: excellent ground conditions, the sandy bottom is ideal for athletic training.

Tony Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) danced on the sand and won both MX1 and Elite races, where at the starting grid there were the best 40 riders from MX1 and MX2. Great starts in both of the races, won by him without any kind of problem. In MX1 class Van Horebeek (Yamaha Factory Racing), the new rider of Team Rinaldi, showed to be very confident with his new bike. After an interlocutory debut in the first manche, when he closed third one, he becomes protagonist in the Elite class race, recovering from 5th to 2nd place only during last laps. Unexpectedly the Belgian rider imposes to everyone his infernal pace, that allows him to pass and outstrip the two HRC Honda riders, Nagl and Bobryshev. The Russian rider is third at the finish, after having been the best one among Cairoli’s followers in the MX1 manche and then made the fastest lap in the Elite class.

In the MX2 class Arnaud Tonus (CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy MX2) is the winner, after a great fight against Christophe Charlier (Yamaha Factory Racing), who finds an unlucky race-day that makes him give up the gas and lose speed because of technical problems. The debuting Paul Jonass (KTM Marchetti Racing) takes the lowest place on the podium ahead of the unlucky world vice-champion Jordi Tixier (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who falls down at the start to make then a spectacular recover from 22nd to 4th place.

In the 125 class, Isdraele Romano (KTM Solarys) wins: he dominates both of the races for a deserved victory. On the podium also Petrov (KTM Marchetti Racing) and Ravera (TM Ricci Racing), thanks to a great recover during race#2 for both of them, who exclude Furbetta (KTM Milani), the author of the pole position in the morning.

The second Round will be next Sunday, 9th February, in Noto (CT), the World Champion TC222 home.
