Today sees the 2014 FIM Trial World Championship return to Europe after the initial two fly away events. The small French island of Corsica hosts the Grand Prix of Europe, with this being the first time that the series has ever ventured on to this beautiful isle. Whilst some of the regular riders were absent in Australia and Japan, the full community is gathered once again and attended yesterday’s official photo call on the seafront and only a few metres away from the wonderfully situated paddock area that sits in the heart of the town of Ile Rousse.
From the start area the riders will make the short journey across the manmade causeway to where eleven of the twelve sections are located, all in close proximity of each other and near to the water’s edge. The crystal clear water is sure to reflect the sun’s rays on the steep rocky faces over which the riders will do battle both today and tomorrow. The final hazard has been created back in the middle of the town, next to the market area and only a short walk from the many shops and restaurants that define the main square.
