Trial in Penrith – Revisited

Toni_Bou_Trial_2014_07_19The FIM Trial World Championship returns to Nord Vue, Penrith for a third year in a row with the Grand Prix of Great Britain marking round six of this year’s series. Twelve months ago at the same hill top venue Toni Bou – Repsol Honda put one hand on the 2013 title with back-to-back victories over the two days of competition, but his success was not without drama.

Bou crashed heavily in section seven on the third and final lap on Sunday afternoon and sustained an injury to the lower right part of his stomach that required immediate medical attention at the finish, which in turn prevented him from taking part in the podium ceremony.

Toni was attended to at the local hospital where they stitched up his deep wound, an injury that would then sideline him for several weeks. His lack of practice nearly cost him the championship, as Adam Raga – Gas Gas made the most of the situation at the last round in France.

This time at Nord Vue a mixture of amended and new sections will greet the fifty-seven competitors who will fight it out over the quarry based course over the next two days.
