Cody Webb Wins Salt Lake City

After a solid weekend at the Denver EnduroCross, Beta USA quickly re-prepped everything for Salt Lake City, Utah this past weekend. This weekend’s track was once again fast with lap times under 35 seconds for the Pros. The track featured one new obstacle for spectators; a wall ride.

Starting with the Open Amateur class, Ty Cullins set out on his Beta 250 RR after winning the trialcross class. Cullins recaps his night, “It was a good night after winning the trialcross class. I was feeling good for the amateur class. I had a good gate pick but had a bad start and was about 9th but I was able to capitalize on other peoples’ mistakes and get into the lead. With two laps to go I got tangled up with a lapped rider and went down and lost the lead, but on the last lap I was able to make a block pass for the lead and take the win.”

Moving on to the Pro racing, the track got increasingly difficult as water spread itself across the track from the water pit. Greasy rocks and logs made it technical. Cody Webb set the benchmark high on the night taking his heat win and then set the fastest lap to gain two championship points.

“Getting my second win of the season was awesome!,” said Cody Webb. “It was our first time racing in Salt Lake City and it was a cool offroad based area. The track had super short lap times and looked very simple during the morning qualifiers. When water was thrown on the track, it changed everything because the track got super slick. I felt very confident on my 300 RR, that along with my Dunlop tires the bike hooked up perfectly. I won my heat race and evening hot laps to gain two extra championship points. I rode smart and consistent in the main event and I just felt the flow on the course. I was also happy to come out of the race with the championship lead heading into Everett next weekend.”

Max Gerston continues to shine at EnduroCross with another solid weekend. Gerston comments saying, “Salt Lake City EnduroCross went well. The track was super slick but also had a fun flowy layout with a huge finish line jump. I was able to qualify straight to the main with a second in my heat. We made a few small changes to the bike and pushed out another 6th place in the main. It was a solid ride but I am still looking for that podium before the end of the year.”

After Webb and Gerston’s first and sixth place finishes, both move inside the top 5 in points. Webb will have the red backgrounds on his bike in Everett, signifying that he is the current points leader.

Meanwhile, National Enduro rider, Cory Buttrick, set out for some ISDE practice for the upcoming ISDE in Argentina. Jason Hooper held his first Full Gas Sprint Enduro in Union, South Carolina. Over the course of two days, riders challenged themselves and each other on two tests that will be very similar to any Six Days event. After all the scores were in, Buttrick finished an impressive 4th overall on his Beta 450 RR.

“I really liked the concept of a Sprint Enduro and enjoyed the whole weekend” says Buttrick. “I chose the 450 RR as my weapon for the weekend and it didn’t disappoint making good traction and power the whole time! Both test sections were fun as they were both opposites and a good change of pace. Thank you to Beta USA and my girlfriend for making my life easy.”

Looking forward, Beta USA will attend the Everett EnduroCross in Washington next weekend.
