Team Honda Gariboldi Racing’s Tim Gajser took the MX2 title in the highly-acclaimed Internazionali d’Italia Motocross Championship yesterday, at the top of what was an all-Honda top-three.
After finishing fourth in the opening round in Riola Sardo, Gajser took an MX2 victory in Castiglione Del Lago on his CRF250R followed by second in Ottobiano last weekend to seal his title.
It’s a great start to 2015 for the flying Slovenian, who took six MX2 podiums last year in the FIM Motocross World Championship, including two race wins in Brazil and Mexico, the last two rounds of the season.
With the opening Grand Prix of the 2015 season just ten days away at Losail, Qatar, Tim Gajser and Team Honda Gariboldi Racing are riding a wave of momentum and confidence.

Giacomo Gariboldi, Team Principal:
“Tim’s MX2 title from the Internazionali d’Italia is a great success that I’m very happy about, and I’d like to congratulate Tim and all of the team. It seems that with each race Tim’s momentum is increasing, really strongly since his first MX2 Grand Prix podium last year in Great Britain, and we’re feeling confident to start the MXGP season in Qatar. It’s also great to see all Honda riders in the top three of this series, which shows how strong the Honda CRF250R now is.
“The Internazionali d’Italia is a great warm-up to the Grand Prix season and contested by a lot of the GP riders, so it’s a good indication of our performance and the development that’s been done on the bike over the winter. With a lot of work from HRC during the off-season, our CRF250R is very strong, even more than last year, and now we’re in a great position to take this success straight into Qatar and see what we can do there.”
Tim Gajser, no.243:
“I’m really happy with the Italian title for sure, and it gives us all great confidence going into Qatar. The bike is working really well and feels really strong – even after spending the off-season training on a CRF450R, coming back to the 250 still feels fast! The team are working well, and after finishing strongly last year, I can’t wait to get to the gate in Qatar.”
