Every year they say it can’t get any better yet every year it does. Masters of Dirt 2016 blew the roof off Vienna as over 30,000 people witnessed a weekend of logic-defying stunt action. 42 athletes from 14 different countries rocked the Wiener Stadthalle for four events, and it’s fair to say MOD raised the bar again with a mix-up of crazy stunts, eye-popping pyro and decibel-smashing music.
Some of the highlights were the backflipping 800kg Polaris of Jerry Mayr– yep, we said backflipping – over one of the jumps accompanied by a whole lot of fire. Monster Energy’s very own FMX King Edgar Torronteras had the crowd going wild with his show and he was joined by fellow claw-bearers Colton Satterfield, Heath Frisby and Sam Reynolds.
Speaking as the four-day event wrapped up, Colton said: “The show was sick! There were tons of ‘first` tricks which had never been done before – this was a big deal! It was probably the best Masters of Dirt I have ever been to, the crowd was going crazy and it was four days of 100% packed shows. It’s pretty amazing to ride here in front of these people because they get behind us so much and recognize what we are doing, I’m pretty psyched to be part of it.”
Sam Reynolds was pumped too; “This year´s Masters of Dirt was the best show I have ever seen! It was an awesome weekend and I had a great time. Everybody blew my mind again, it was so awesome and I would love to do it again next year.”
