Honda Motor Europe is looking forward to the start of the 150 European Championship on July 27-28 at the German motocross Grand Prix in Lausitzring, where selected young racers will begin the three-round battle on CRF150R machinery for the ultimate prize of a ride with the Gariboldi Honda team in 2014.
The 150 European Championship is being run by Racedays promotions on Honda’s behalf in Lausitzring in Germany, Bastogne in Belgium and Matterley Basin in the UK where riders aged 11-14, who can enter for selection through their local federation or by contacting Racedays directly for guidance, will spend their weekend amongst the World Championship paddock while racing on the highest level of track with provided machinery at no cost.
This initiative by Honda, which is supported by the FIM Europe who will manage the selection process, has the goal of helping find the next generation of young talent aboard fourstroke machinery.
The selection camp will be held before Lausitzring Grand Prix weekend at a nearby track, where riders will be able to test the CRF150R machinery and refine their set-up ready for the race weekend. Tyres, fuel, entry fees and medical cover are all provided for the whole race series, so riders only need to turn up at each track with a helper mechanic and their riding gear to take part in the championship. Honda has pledged this big investment in order to demonstrate its commitment to youth racing and bring riders through the racing ranks.
The winner* after the three-round championship will receive the opportunity to race with the Gariboldi Honda squad in the E-MX2 championship next season. There are still spaces available for a free ride in the championship for those racing at national level and would like to be eligible for the selection process. Please contact your local federation for more details or www.honda150championship.com to contact Racedays promotions directly.
“It’s not long now until the start of the 150 European Championship, and we’re really looking forward to it,” said Roger Harvey, Honda Europe Off-Road Manager. “The FIM Europe is controlling the selection process, and we still have some places left for riders to sign up to race the series, which is absolutely free on provided machinery from Honda. It really is a great opportunity, as youngsters can race on Grand Prix tracks amongst the World Championship paddock, at very little cost, which will help us recognise the stars of the future,” concluded Harvey.
*Subject to meeting entry requirements, if not then an alternative prize will be awarded.
