The ICE1Racing rider Rui Gonçalves fractured his spinous process C6 five weeks ago in Lausitzring GP and was forced to stand by three races. The Portuguese rider returns fully recovered to the World Championship circuit final in Lierop next weekend.
“My return on the bike was pretty good, definitely my physical training was helping me a lot on getting back riding. I took it easy in the beggining as I missed four weeks of riding. Lierop is going to be a tough race but it’s great to be back racing”, commented Gonçalves after finishing his training in Lommel.
“Rui has had now several good training days on sand. He has been very strong on sand throughout the season, so it will interesting to have him back with the team in Lierop”, commented team manager Antti Pyrhönen and continued,
“It’s good to see him in such a good condition – welcome back to the team Rui!”
The Finnish rider Ludde Söderberg will also enter Lierop as a ICE1Racing replacement rider.
“Ludde has had good training during the past week. Sand is considered more natural surface for the Finns, which boosts the expectations and Ludde will most certainly aim for his best MX1 race result this season”, summed Pyrhönen.
