The 12th round of the FIM MXGP World Championship will take place in Uddevalla, Sweden this weekend. 24MX Honda’s Klemen Gercar and wildcard rider Filip Thuresson will be steering the 24MX Honda CRF450R at the classic World Championship track.
With the first Grand Prix event dating back to 1958, Uddevalla is one of the most historic and iconic venues of the series. The Uddevalla circuit, situated 80 kilometers north of Gothenburg, features a variety of typical challenges with many elevation changes, different types of soil and a fast layout. The Swedish GP is another home race for the 24MX Honda team because online mx store and title sponsor 24MX was founded in Sweden.
After Arco di Trento, Maggiora and Teutschenthal this will also be the fourth GP of the season for multiple Swedish champion Filip Thuresson. The 22-year old Thuresson, who is an Uddevalla local, is keen to show what he is made of in front of his home crowd! Filip will be easy to identify for Swedish fans sporting a bespoke graphics kit.
Reigning MX3 world champion Gercar sat out last weekend’s round of the Slovenian championship. Klemen hurt his foot during the German GP but he should be fine for Uddevalla.
Filip Thuresson: “For sure it’s cool to get the support from your fans at home! However, it’s not fair to say that I have a big advantage with the track. The club made a huge effort and completely revamped the track. So this year we will get a layout that’s brand new, only the soil has remained the same! I’m really looking forward to this one. My second moto in Arco di Trento was quite good, I came 17th. The other two GP’s were nearly not good enough but I feel that I’m getting stronger again week after week. I love the 24MX Honda team and the bike so now it’s up to me to make it happen.”
