A fourth crown for Taddy! – SuperEnduro

In a full Parc des Expositions, the stars of the SuperEnduro have made a big spectacle during more than 3 hours. An introduction worthy of the biggest American show and also a stunt and FMX show have gave the first note of the night that has to delivered every 2012/2013 World Champions. For sure, this finale programmed in Tourshad a perfect launch and the races gave suspense and show until the end of the night…

From the first laps of the Senior class, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM)was determined to win his 4th World title in a row as soon as possible. Despite a great start of Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM), the Polish took quickly the lead, relegating his biggest rival David KNIGHT (GB – Honda)in the second rank. In that way, he offers to himself the possibility to be titled in the second heat. But, during this second final with reversed start, the things were not so good for the KTM rider who was last after the start. Then, lap by lap he ate every of his rivals and arrived 2nd four laps before the end behind a surprising Daniel GIBERT (E – Husaberg). But the Spanish was already too far and surprisingly won his first SuperEnduro race while the Polish preferred to grab the 17 points of the second that he needed to be crowned. “It’s unbelievable! After my injury before Poland GP , I had only 3 month to work hard, suffer and get back to my best level to earn my 4th World title…” … admitted a fulfilled BLAZUSIAK. “And, tonight, the spectators are really incredible and it helped me a lot!”

Behind this duo, it’s Alfredo GOMEZ (E – Husaberg), diminished by a wrist ankle, who clinched with courage the 3rd rank. But we still had to determine the runner-up… An honorific title coveted by the two Brits KNIGHTand WALKER. The Manxman, over-motivated, took a good start during this last heat behind this devil of BLAZUSIAK. Patient, the Honda rider waited the mistake of the Polish in the rocks to take the lead and win. WALKERcould only finished second… “I’m really proud of this second place. Taddyhas been once again too strong and to finish runner-up is like a victory for my comeback in SuperEnduro!” said the Honda rider.

We can’t forget the excellent 5th place of the Rookie of the Year, Kornel NEMETH (H – KTM) and also the 9th overall rank of Daniel GIBERT, revelation of this French finale.

In the Junior class, the suspense was at its higher level until the last lap of the 2nd heat… On the ruthless track of Tours, Giacomo REDONDI (I – KTM) and Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM) were amazing by signing nice wins and giving more difficulties to Danny MCCANNEY (GB – Gas Gas), the leader… Indeed, the British, less comfortable than in Spain, couldn’t get closer to his 2 rivals and had to fight with Swedes Johan EDLUND (Husaberg). But at the end, by grabbing a 3rd and 2nd place, the Gas Gas rider became the first ever SuperEnduro Junior World Champion. On his side, the Polish young gun SZYMKOWSKIconfirmed his talent with a runner-up position for only one point ahead of Giacomo REDONDI. Loser of this night, Johan EDLUND takes only the 4th rank and Magnus THOR (S – KTM) completes the Top 5.

Finally in the Women category, Laïa SANZ (E – Gas Gas) won the race and asserts herself as the queen of motorsports. Jane DANIELS (GB – Husaberg) finished 2nd and Sam TICHET (F – KTM),3rd, signed her first International podium. This promising class, programed as exhibition, has permitted to show that females have their place on a SuperEnduro track and that’s good for the future.

The 2012/2013 season is now over with the 4th crowning of the machine Taddy BLAZUSIAKand the first title of Junior World Champion to Danny MCCANNEY. Now it’s the off-season and every rider will have a main goal: to be 100% ready for the opening round of the 2013/2014 season the 17th of November in the Echo Arena in Liverpool, Great Britain, 1st of 6 promising rounds.
