Adri Van Beers appointed team coordinator

Adri_Van_Beers_24mx_201424MX Honda Racing is pleased to announce that Adri Van Beers has been appointed team coordinator. The Dutchman was a well-respected team owner and manager until he left the GP series at the end of 2012.

Adri Van Beers made a name for himself running the Van Beers-Yamaha team that discovered and nurtured talented, young riders in the FIM Motocross World Championship. Over the years Adri helped to (re)launch the career of many fast guys like Rui Gonçalves, Evgeny Bobryshev, Petar Petrov, Marc De Reuver, Manuel Priem, Aigar Leok, Carlos Campano, Dennis Verbruggen and so on.

In his capacity as a rider, team manager and team owner Van Beers has gathered extensive experience in all aspects of motocross at the highest level. Adri played a key role in the remarkable on-track success of his own team. The Van Beers team recorded seven national titles, finished 8th overall in the MX1 championship (Manuel Priem, 2007) and took 10th overall in MX2 (Rui Gonçalves, 2005).

Adri Van Beers said: “The 24MX Honda team and Steven Lettani’s crew have a pretty amazing track record with GP wins, top results in all classes they entered. They’ve also earned a reputation for building worldclass bikes! So it’s a wonderful opportunity to add my experience and to help make the team even better. I’m looking forward to start working with all those amazing partners like Honda Europe, 24MX and everyone else supporting the team. It will also be cool to meet some familiar faces in the paddock again… And as always I will keep a keen eye on fresh talent!”

Steven Lettani said: “Adri’s appointment is an important key to strengthen the 24MX Honda Racing team. Similar to us, the Van Beers team has achieved strong results with a very limited budget. Adri has an in-depth knowlegde about the technical and sporting side of running a team that is pretty rare. I’m convinced that after a difficult 2013 season we can continue to grow the team, march back to more competitiveness and new success both on and off-track.”

Profile Adri Van Beers

Even as a schoolboy, Adri Van Beers (58) was fascinated by motorcycles. Coming from the motocross-loving Dutch province of North Brabant it was only a matter of time before he started riding himself. Although he always considered motocross a hobby Adri did reach the highest national level and he was a regular top-10 rider at the Dutch GP’s he took part in. Van Beers’ biggest achievement was the Dutch four-stroke crown in 1983.

After many years on the sideline -and already the owner of a successful earth moving business- Adri decided to start his own team. From 2002 on he ran his own Yamaha outfit, first at national and European level to make his entrance in GP’s in 2004. The Van Beers team entered Japanese blue bikes for 10 years before switching to the Italian blue of TM Racing. While the team scored five Dutch titles and took the title in Spain and Russia, their best GP result was a fifth with Dennis Verbruggen.
