Thanks to winning last year’s FIM Junior Trial World Championship Alex Ferrer – Sherco booked himself amongst the World’s elite by claiming one of the eight permanent places for the 2013 FIM X-Trial World Championship. Although Ferrer has previously made wild card appearances in the series, he announced his debut proper with a stunning fifth place at the opening round of the championship in Sheffield last month.

The twenty-two year old showed no nerves on the night and was unlucky not to make it right through to the final as he was ousted from the last qualifying spot by home rider James Dabill – Beta. Boosted by his initial performance alongside the World’s best Trial riders, Alexandre has arrived with extra confidence ahead of tonight’s battle in Barcelona. Unlike the more technical hazards that he faced in Sheffield, the soon to be twenty-three year old French rider will face a whole new challenge later today as he pits his skill and bravery against some of the most revered sections on the tour.

Although it will be a tall ask, quite literally, the Sherco teamster is rightly setting his sights high and is at least looking to repeat the result he achieved at the first round. In a few hours time Ferrer will know his fate and if he has managed to shoot high once again.
