After the first GP of mid-April in Chile, at Talca, the Enduro World Championship makes the debut in Europe, on May 9th -10th with the Spanish Grand Prix, second round of the season.
The theatre of this event will be Jerez de la Frontera and the paddock will be set up inside the famous Andalusian circuit that hosts MotoGP too.
Alex Salvini (Honda-RedMoto CRF 450R Enduro in E2 class) and Alessandro Battig (HondaRedMoto CRF 250R Enduro in EJ class) are ready to fight after the excellent results of Chile.
Coming back to Italy Salvini work hard to prepare the race of Jerez with a specific training on soft ground, since the route of the race will have long special test, on sand and dust. Engineer Carlo Curci and Salvini’s technician Toni Specia work on the set-up.
The same for Battig, who train on sandy grounds, on tracks with obstacles like in the extreme special test and on mule tracks.
After the absence due to an injury, RedMoto and team technical manager Carlo Curci will make his debut in the paddock. He will have the important role of technical coordination supporting for the development of Salvini and Battig Honda CRF-RedMoto.
ALEX SALVINI (E2 Class, Honda CRF 450R Enduro):
“Jerez’s route should not be underestimated, because the special tests will be long and, as in Chile, any hesitation could make you lose contact with the top of the standing. Even if Talca’s result was below my expectations, I’m third in the world standing and the championship is still very long. I have to study the route and start in the best way. I trained hard and I’m ready to redeem the two third places achieved in Chile. I will do my best”.
ALESSANDRO BATTIG (EJ Class Honda CRF 250R Enduro):
“The two positive results of Chile gave me a great charge. For Jerez I trained also following Tullio Pellegrinelli’s advices: I think I made good step forward, but I still have a lot to learn. After the results in Chile for sure this weekend will be tough, because all eyes will be on me. I’ll try not to disappoint anyone, attacking from the first test and trying to do my best. I can not wait to get back to drive my Honda-RedMoto CRF 250R Enduro”.
CARLO CURCI ( and Team Technical Manager):
“Jerez will be my first race after the absence due to an injury, but I always follow riders and team. In Chile Salvini had a tough race: he manage to recover several positions finishing close to the podium fighting against adversaries like Meo and Renet. Battig was a pleasant surprise, but also a confirmation. Now we have to go on working in this way and face Jerez’s test with determination and confidence, attacking from the beginning”.
FRANCO MAYR (Team Manager):
“In Chile both our Honda-RedMoto CRF bikes were on the podium with Salvini, twice third in E2, and Battig, fourth and first in EJ. Despite complications due to different ground conditions, our riders always fought for the victory. We arrived to the World Championship with performing bikes: Salvini chose the best suspension setting and Battig found the ideal feeling with the bike. We go to Jerez highly motivated and determined. I saw Alex very focused and even Battig wants to confirm the podium. We will do our best looking at future with confidence”.
