Originally the brainchild of Thierry Sabine in 1977, the beach race of Le Touquet has become famous thanks to its extremities: 1000 + participants who are involved in a mass start, speeds in excess of 150km/h, winter temperatures, sea side-wind gusts, combined with a three-hour racing format in brutally deep sand.
