Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing made their debut as Husqvarna’s factory MXGP squad in Losail, Qatar. The team has two of the most interesting riders in the pits with one being the former FIM MX2 World Champion Tyla Rattray and the other being this season’s hottest rookie Australian Todd Waters.

It was a weekend on ups and down’s for Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing with Rattray withdrawing to go back to Belgium for an operation on his injured finger. Meanwhile, Todd Waters was making his MXGP debut and proving to be a solid top ten guy with great lap times, fast enough to match the leaders. Unfortunately in Qualifying, Waters got pushed wide on the start and fought all the way forward to ninth before having an enormous crash while trying to find a way around the FIM Motocross MXGP vice champion Clement Desalle.

Like a true warrior, Waters lined up and raced, putting in two solid performances to start the season in eleventh overall. Despite the fact he was extremely lucky to race, given the size of his crash, Waters enjoyed the experience and has proved to be one to watch as the season progresses.
