After highly successful performances in all classes at the opening round of the 2015 Enduro World Championship, Husqvarna Motorcycles enter round two in Spain with high hopes of continued success.
Gearing up for the first European race of the series, Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing head to the second round of the FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship aiming to build on their strong start to the series at the GP of Chile.
Hitting the ground running at last month’s race in Talca, Husqvarna’s factory riders achieved podium results across all classes. With seven top-three finishes, including two race wins, the GP of Chile was certainly one to remember for all the right reasons.
Making his debut senior class appearance, Danny McCanney made his presence felt in the Enduro 1 class in Chile. Stepping up to E1 as the reigning Enduro Junior World Champion, Danny put his FE 250 at the sharp end of the results. Placing third both days – while also taking a special test win – McCanney proved that he’s a rider to watch in 2015. In Jerez he looks to keep that impressive form rolling.
The GP of Chile marked a solid outing for defending Enduro 2 champion Pela Renet. Quick to start on day one, Renet led the majority of the day only to lose out on his chance of victory with a costly crash in the final enduro test. Regrouping for second, the Husqvarna rider then matched that result on day two. In Spain, Renet aims to eliminate those mistakes and claim his first win of the year.
Returning to competitive action with a bang following his injury curtailed 2014 season, Mathias Bellino fired a serious warning shot to his Enduro 3 classmates. Delivering a start-to-finish victory on day one, Bellino proved that he’s well settled on his new TE 300. With his confidence now high, the Frenchman has his sights set on adding more wins to his 2015 tally.
Firmly establishing himself as one of the main contenders in the Enduro Junior class, Jamie McCanney enters the second round of the championship as the early point’s leader. Securing his debut EJ win on day one in Chile before placing third on day two, McCanney hopes to build on those results in Jerez.
In the Youth Cup, Husqvarna Spain’s Josep Garcia starts as the rider to beat. On form in Chile, the Spaniard bagged a double win – he looks to match that performance on home turf.
The GP of Spain also marks the opening round of the Women’s Cup where Husqvarna UK supported Jane Daniels gets her championship campaign underway. Runner-up to Laia Sanz in 2014, Daniels is one of the favourites for podium honours.
Round two of the FIM Maxxis Enduro World Championship takes place in Jerez, Spain May 9/10.
