Injury ends Livia Lancelot’s season

Livia Lancelot 2013Injured during one recent round of the French Women Championship, Livia Lancelot underwent successful surgery in Lyon. The Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki rider has now be patient before her come back, as she will enter a long period of rehabilitation to recover from this knee injury.

Livia has always been a great ambassador for the French Women series, as the 2008 Women World Champion is a real star in her country. But this French series wasn’t so nice with Livia, as she got injured two weeks ago at the start of one round. “We were at the start of the second heat, and a young girl who faced some troubles took my front wheel off; I didn’t crashed, but when I put my foot on the ground I felt some pain in my knee and immediately stopped. The exams revealed that the anterior crucial ligaments of my knee were damaged, and I know what does that means as I had the same injury to the other knee, the left one, in 2007” explained Livia who knows exactly what to expect.

Back to Lyon where she was operated six years ago, she found the same doctor who took care of her again. “This doctor is happy with the result of the surgery, the ligaments were not as damaged as it could be. But I know what will be my program for the next weeks and months; I know that it will not be really fun. I have to rest for a couple of days, and then I will move to Capbreton, where we have one of the best re-education centre; here you have only high level sportsmen and women, and the doctors are use to work with people who train all year long for their sport” she continues.

For sure the 2013 season is over, and even before talking with her main partners Livia has already some plans for next season. “My 2014 racing program will be similar to this year, with beach races including Le Touquet, the X Games, the French women series and maybe some GP’s. My first goal is to be fit for Le Touquet, a race that I really enjoyed this year and where I want to go again with more experience. I know that there’s a long way to recover and come back to the top level, but I’m sure that I can do it again; in 2008, on September 7th I was crowned Women World Champion exactly one year after surgery to my right knee. These dates are forever in my memory!” ended Livia who will celebrate her 25th anniversary in February 2014, just a few days after le Touquet.
