Thirty-two year old Kenichi Kuroyma (Yamaha) made his annual return to the FIM Trial World Championship earlier today when he contested the opening day of his home Grand Prix in Japan. The reigning Japanese trials champion last competed in the World series on a full time basis back in 2005 when he placed eighth in the overall rankings.
During his eleven seasons as part of the championship, the popular Japanese rider twice finished third in the final rankings at the height of his career in 1997 / 98.
Speaking about his ninth position on day one Kenichi said. “This is not a bad result for me, but I had hoped to do a little better. It has been hard to adapt to the no-stop rule as we have had a different system in Japan until now. I really enjoy riding in Motegi and to be a part of the FIM Trial World championship once again. Having won all seven rounds of my home championship last season, I have come here with good confidence. I made too many mistakes today and was punished by the observers. Tomorrow I hope to change this pattern and to be further up the results.”
