Jeremy Seewer winner of the Ricky Carmichael Award

2013-MXON-Germany_Jeremy-SeewerIn 2007 Youthstream decided to give the Ricky Carmichael Award to the best youngest rider racing the Motocross of Nations; at that edition Arnaud Tonus won the award and six editions later it is another Swiss rider who collected it. Jeremy Seewer received the award after finishing eleventh overall in the MX2 class and helping his Nation to qualify ninth, ten places higher than last year. In the first race Seewer had an OK start in the twenty-second position and he managed to move up to the sixteenth place, but in the last lap – just a few metres before the finish jump – Eli Tomac overtook him and the Swiss had to settle down with the seventeenth position.

Seewer was involved in the crash of the second race at the first corner and he was back in the race from the very last position because it took him quite a lot of time to restart his Suzuki. However, after three laps the Swiss rider started finding a good rhythm and he managed to cross the finish line twenty- fourth.

“It was a good weekend for me and it was another learning experience,” commented Seewer. “It is a pleasure for me being surrounded by these top riders and it was a very nice surprise receiving the Ricky Carmichael Award, as I was not expecting it.”

It was not the first time that Seewer took part at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, but it was for sure the best performance in his career. This year the 19-year-old was the runner up of the EMX250 European Championship behind his compatriot Valentin Guillod and he also took part in some Grand Prix of the FIM MX2 World Championship.
