Kevin Strijbos: “I won’t be behind the gate in Argentina this weekend. Got an MRI scan yesterday and it turned out there was to much inflammation in the tendon to continue. From the first international race in Hawkstone Park I went from weekend to weekend without riding during the week because it was to painful.
At this level it’s hard to do it like that and to keep fighting with the best guys in the world. So after 2 months, 3 injections and a lot of painkillers we decided to get an operation tomorrow to get it fixed. It’s a hard decision we made with the team because I felt I had the speed and the championship was still long but this was the best solution in the end. Not sure when I will return to racing – might be missing Italy also. It will all depend on how it’s going. Don’t want to rush things now because the championship is over.”
