As Finland is a country known of its pure nature and inhabitants who take care of the environment, the twelfth Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship was opened yesterday by launching the Kiss Hyvinkää project. Kiss comes from words “Keep it Shiny and Sustainable” and it supports the International Motorcycling Federation FIM’s Ride Green theme. The first Kiss project was created at Mugello MotoGP earlier this year.
Mrs Nita Korhonen, FIM Environmental Steward of the Finnish Grand Prix, opened the event by welcoming everybody and Mr Tapio Kiivanen followed up by explaining how important was for him to host a Grand Prix and he thanked Youthstream and the FIM for having given him such opportunity. Mr Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream’s President, Dr Wolfgang Srb, FIM/CMS director, and Kurt Ljungqvist representing the Finnish motorcycling federation also welcomed everybody present at the event and they highlighted the importance of respecting the environment when organizing any motorsport event.

Former and reigning world champions were the protagonists of the Kiss Hyvinkää project and they were encouraged to plant a tree to show their sensitiveness with the environment. Antonio Cairoli, Jeffrey Herlings, Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, Harry Everts and the two former Finnish World Champions Heikki Mikkola and Pekka Venkonen planted the first trees of the first MX World Champions Park! Other former World Champions will plant their tree during the weekend.
