Moto 1: In front of a massive crowd Antonio Cairoli took the holeshot in the opening MXGP moto. Max Nagl followed, then the American Villopoto and championship leader Clement Desalle. Max Nagl started very strong in the race, attacked the Champion but simply couldn’t manage to make a pass. For 30 minutes the race stayed completely open but no one was able to make a pass as everyone was riding unbelievably fast. In the end it got tight again for a few times but only Clement Desalle could make a pass stick on RV2 on the very last lap to finish 3rd. The American had to take 4th, whether he was satisfied with it or not, Gautier Paulin came home in 5th after riding the same speed like the leaders but he simply lost the race at the start and the first few laps. Jeremy van Horebeek finally showed good speed and came home right behind Paulin’s tail.
Moto 2: Max Nagl simply was on fire!! His start-to-finish lead was never doubted, he pulled a gap of 3 seconds on Cairoli on only the first lap!! After 3 laps it was 7 seconds and the German was never seen again. Behind him the race started quite calm as Cairoli, Villopoto and Desalle rode there laps behind each other. But after 18 minutes drama happened to the American Villopoto. When Desalle tried to pass him on the pitlane they drag-raced their bikes on the straight so much that Ryan “over-wheelied” his bike and had a hard impact on his back. He immadiately crawled out of the track and after a short time left the track by his own feet. His injury-status is yet unknown. At the same lap Desalle’s front wheel washed out in the back part of the track and he went down too. But Cairoli, dealing with some armpump, still had no room to breathe. MXGP-Rookie Romain Febvre haunted the champion all the way to the checkered flag. But Tony, who announced that he had suffered a big crash on thursday before the GP which needed 10 stitches on his head, held off the young Belgian with all his experience and cleverness. Desalle regrouped and took 4th, Paulin again after a bad start came home in 5th. Max Nagl won his 3rd overall in only the 4th GP in 2015!
