MX2

When the gate dropped in the pouring rain for the MX2 qualifying race in the MXGP of Trentino Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis took the holeshot. He used the clear view perfectly and never let his competitors get close enough to him to get in danger of getting passed. Behind him Jeremy Seewer rode solid, despite a few mistakes from him let get the red plate holder Jeffrey Herlings quite close to him. Herlings himself got pressure of team mate Pauls Jonass as the race went on, but in the end no one of the Factory KTM’s was able to manage a pass on the slick surface of the Ciclamino track. So Ferrandis will start from pole position tomorrow, despite he doesn’t “feel a 100 percent yet but I managed to maintain my lead pretty good” as he mentioned in the press conference afterwards.

MXGP

Reigning MX2 World Champion Tim Gajser looks super impressive at the moment. In the MXGP qualifying race he showed that he has the red plate on the front of his Gariboldi HRC Honda for a reason. After grabbing the important holeshot he immediately pulled away from the field in super smooth style. After two laps he was 5 seconds clear from the rest of the field and from then on rode a smart race in the difficult conditions which resulted from a rain shower one hour before the start of the MXGP qualifying race. Max Nagl was second from the start, had no chance to match Gajser’s speed but on the other hand didn’t really get pressure from Italian hero Tony Cairoli. The Russian Evgeny Bobryshev in fourth place had his hands full to do with Strijbos, Febvre, who had charged through the field, and van Horebeek on his tail. As the track had become pretty much one line, no one of this group was able to gain a position until the checkered flag. “It feels like a home GP for me” said Gajser after his qualifying race win about so many Slovenian fans who were cheering for him all around the track already today.
