The sixth round the EMX125 European Championship kicked off today at the grass roots style circuit of Bastogne, Belgium, where Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Pauls Jonass was back to his dominating ways. The speedy Latvian led Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu and Frenchman Nicolas Dercourt across the finish to take his fifth EMX125 round victory of the year.
Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Pauls Jonass proved exactly why he was last weekend crowned the 125cc Junior Motocross World Champion. The Latvian star took the early lead and went on to lead every lap for his fifth ‘Final’ race victory of the season. Only three seconds back from Jonass was the young German, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu. Hsu put in his best ride of the season to edge out the previous round winner Nicolas Dercourt for second. Meanwhile Dercourt was forced to regroup after making a mistake while leading and dropping back to fifth. The young Frenchman responded well and fought all the way back to third, an amazing twenty seconds ahead of Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Team KTM Sarholz Racing’s Henry Jacobi.
The following EMX125 round will take place next weekend in Great Britain during the MXGP Festival at the circuit of Matterley Basin. Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM’s Pauls Jonass holds onto the red plate with his thirty-seven point lead over Team MJC’s Nicolas Dercourt in second. Meanwhile the battle for second remains smoking hot with only two points separating Dercourt and KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsports’ Calvin Vlaanderen.
