Romain Febvre of the Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM Team finished on the podium at the first round of the World MX2 Series in Losail, Qatar. The Frenchman finished fourth in the first moto and came home in third position in the second moto. The Wilvo Nestaan JM Racing KTM Team travelled to Qatar with confidence. Unfortunately Jake Nicholls had a bacterial infection and an abscess on his ass cheek. The first moto started with a lot of bad luck for Jake. He crashed in the opening lap and lost a lot of time there. One minute behind the group he restarted and tried to come back as far as he could. With consistent lap times he charged all the way back to eighteenth position and scored three world championship points. Romain Febvre took a really good start and after several laps he was riding in third position. Soon after he started to put the pressure on the second place rider. Unfortunately he made a small mistake and dropped back to fourth position. Romain tried to come back but finally he had to be satisfied with fourth position.

In the second moto the twenty best MX2 riders had to ride against the twenty best MX1 riders in a super final. When the gate dropped it was Romain who took a really good start. In the opening lap he lost a few positions but was riding in second position in the MX2 class for a long time. In the second half of the race he lost a position and dropped back to third position. Romain kept the pace as high as he could and managed to finish the race in a strong third position. Jake didn’t took a good start and had to come back through the field. He was fighting against the MX1 riders but managed to pass one rider after another. Jake was strong in the second part of the race and crossed the finish line in fourth position in the MX2 class.

Romain finished third overall with a 4-3 in the motos while Jake finished in tenth position overall with a 18-4 in the motos. Next weekend round two of the series will be held in Thailand.
