The heat caused our ears to pound and our stamina to decrease today on the last day of the Roof of Africa. Exhausted, riders and spectators alike were relieved to finish the Mother of Hard Enduro today. Locals as well as internationals admitted that it was one of the most difficult things they had ever done in their lives, and that the routes the Roof team had prepared for this event were undoubtedly the most difficult yet.
Wade Young came in with wanion because he had broken down in last year’s event, and what a spectacular moment it was to behold!
Graham Jarvis came in approximately 30 minutes later with a personal victory as the International champion had reportedly been sick. Perhaps even just tired. Well done anyway, you are a star!
Coming in the overall 2nd podium spot was the dark horse, Brett Swanepoel, who surprised everyone by his skill and determination. Will he be the next Wade Young?
Another local hero, Altus de Wet, came in just one spot short of podium, but the sheer skill he displayed in riding and the places he made up definitely earned him a top spot in the Fast Five.
James Hodson came overal 5th while Kenny Gilbert somehow managed to take 6th place from Charan Moore who then came in at 7th position, followed by Wynand Jacobus Badenhorst in 8th.
Lars Enöckl made his way into 9th place overall with a good time to his name and the scorching sun on his back today.
Last but not least to our top ten is Henco Botha who displayed a terrific amount of determination as the crowd cheered him on to his top ten spot.
