The next follow up has been scheduled in two weeks, after which Gonçalves knows when he can return to racing.
Rui Gonçalves fractured his spinous process C6 two weeks ago in a heavy crash during the first moto in Lausitzring. Gonçalves didn’t fortunately require surgery and has been resting with a neck brace for the past two weeks. The recovery has been very good and Gonçalves had further scans as planned today.
“I’ve done everything there is to make sure that the recovery would be as good as possible as fast as possible. The scan was promising and now it’s time to be patient”, commented Gonçalves after his visit to the doctors today.
“I am allowed to do condition training already and I can’t wait to be back on my bike”, continued Gonçalves.
“The next follow up scan has be scheduled in two weeks after which we will know whether Rui can return to GP season in Lierop”, summed team manager Antti Pyrhönen the plans for the Portuguese rider.
As Rui Gonçalves is recovering from his injury, ICE1Racing is giving an opportunity for two replacement riders in Bastogne and Matterley Basin. The experienced French GP rider Sebastién Pourcel #4 returns to GP scene through a rider switch within KTM family as KTM Sarholz helped with the release of Pourcel for the GPs. And theFinnish rider Ludde Söderberg # 388 fills the other spot, Söderberg is known as one of the best Finnish MX1 riders.
“We thank ICE1Racing for this opportunity and we will make the best of the possibility”, both of the replacement riders comment on the news.
