The 2013 season has proved to be another successful one for Spain in the sport of Trial with the southern European nation dominating five of the main championships. Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa was again the headline act in the men’s division by winning both the 2013 FIM X-Trial World Championship and the 2013 FIM Trial World Championship, and each for an incredible seventh successive time. Not just content with his individual honours Bou then led his countrymen Adam Raga – Gas Gas, Jeroni Fajardo – Beta and Albert Cabestany – Sherco to victory in yesterday’s FIM Trial des Nations held in La Chatre, France for a tenth time in a row.
Jorge Casales – Gas Gas added to this year’s Spanish supremacy by becoming the winner of the 2013 FIM Junior Trial World Cup in only his second season in the series. Switching to the female category, Laia Sanz – Montesa like Bou continued her dominance of the discipline by winning the FIM Women’s Trial World championship for a record extending thirteenth time. However unfortunately she was unable to lead her compatriots to victory in the FIM Women’s Trial des Nations, as she missed the competition for the first time in over a decade, as she headed off to successfully defend her title in the Maxxis FIM Women’s Enduro World Cup.
France’s Quentin Carles de Caudemberg – Beta was the exception to the Spanish rule as he became the winner of the 2013 FIM Youth Trial World Cup.
