After Belo Horizonte, the very first oversea tour is on its way now for the 4th stage of the SEWC 2013/2014 that will take place in Mexico, Saturday, January 25th, more precisely in Guadalajara, in the Arena VFG!
As in Brazil, it’s the very first time of its history that Mexico will host a round of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. And it the Grupo Ochoa Agency, famous in Mexico for its numerous organizations in golf but also during tennis tournament and formation stages for young football players, that is in charge to organize this event. It will be done in cooperation with the FMM (Federacion Mexicana de Motociclismo), its delegate Luis OTERO and with ABC Communication and the FIM…
Alejandro OCHOA, general director of Grupo Ochoa, is well decided to make of the SuperEnduro a very attractive and exciting sport for the boiling Mexican public. Brother of the multiple Golf Champion Lorena OCHOA, Alejandro was one of the first organizers of 2013/2014 to contact Alain BLANCHARD and the FIM in order to obtain a SuperEnduro round. The Mexican agency has quickly looked for a venue and it is the Arena VFG that has finally be chosen to host this Grand Prix. This arena, whose initials “VFG” are in tribute to famous Mexican singer Vicente FERNANDEZ GOMEZ, can host between 4 000 and 15 000 spectators according to the type of event. It has been built in 2009 and has already welcomed numerous fight of the mythic Mexican “Lucha Libre” whose inhabitants of this country ar e in love with! It has also host many concerts as Oasis, Shakira or the Red Hot Chili Peppers… We can bet that Alejandro OCHOA and his professional agency will succeed in his bet to fill the Arena VFG of a boiling Mexican public in order to make a vibrant welcome to the stars of the SuperEnduro!
Guadalajara, capital of Jalisco state, is the second biggest city of Mexico with nearly 1 700 000 inhabitants for an agglomeration of 4 000 000 inhabitants. Nicknamed “La Perla del Occidente”, Guadalajara is situated in the Atemajac valley, next to the Chapala Lake. Considered as the Mexican “Silicon Valley”, it is the economic and cultural pole of the west of the country. Located 500 kilometers from Mexico City, Guadalajara is a very touristic city thanks to its colonial architecture and his historical city center that host numerous wonders as its cathedral, the Degollado Theater or also the Cabanas hospice. This metropolis is also the hometown of famous producer Guillermo DE L TORO, of the football player Javier “Chicharito” HERNANDEZ and of course the famous sister of Alejandro OCHOA and great golf Champion, Lorena OCHOA…
After a glowing victory in Mineirinho in Belo Horizonte where he get the favors of the Brazilian public, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM) arrives in Guadalajara with a 19 points lead over David KNIGHT (GB – Sherco) and a moral invigorated. Indeed, last Saturday, it seemed that nothing could stop the Polish and we are wondering how it will be different a week later. But KNIGHTER, “satisfied of his Brazilian Grand Prix after breaking two ribs two weeks before”, don’t want to let escape the four times World Champion and will look to get back on him before the two last Grand Prix… But during this Latin American tour, the two big favorites have been joined by Alfredo GOMEZ (E – HVA) and Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM). This duo took them a candle and the Spanish offered to himself a first Heat win and his first podi um of the season while the Brit gain a place in the overall standing and is just 8 points behind the third place of GOMEZ. So, we’ll have to count once again with the HVA rider and WALKER in order to add more spice in the Prestige class. Constant in Brazil, Joakim LJUNGGREN (S – HVA) will arrive in Mexico with bigger self-confidence and could join the “Fantastic four” in the race to the podium. Diminished by a tough injury on his knee fifteen days ago, Dani GIBERT (E – Gas Gas) ensured a good 6th rank but he will have once again to stay strong in the Arena VFG if he doesn’t want to lose points in the race for the overall podium. On their side, Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA), Kevin ROOKSTOOL (USA – KTM), Kyle REDMOND (USA – KTM), Benoit FORTUNATO (F – Yam) and Ric ky DIETRICH (USA – KTM) will have to step up if they don’t want to fight only for the places out of the Top 5. Especially as the best Mexican rider, Homero DIAZ (KTM), well-known in the Enduro world, could fight for the Top 10…
After a Grand Prix of Brazil without any problems and two victories that placed him in the lead of the Junior class, Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta) will be once again the big favourite of the under 23 years old category while his major rivals stayed in Europa. But the Beta rider will have to keep an eye on the Mexican young guns lead by Javier CASTRO (MEX – KTM), Jorge ACEVEDO (MEX – KTM) and Jose Luis PEREA (Gas Gas) that have shone during last ISDE in Italy…
For this second and last Grand Prix out of Europa, we will once again attend to a round where everything can change. Rendezvous on Saturday, January 25th in the Arena VFG (Guadalajara) where the stars of the SEWC promised us a high voltage show, embellished by the fervor and the warm of the Mexican public that will have as defy to equal or do better than their Brazilian homologue that have literally “burnt” the venue in Belo Horizonte! Caramba!
