Tim Gajser eager to make it five in Latvia

MXGP of Europe 2015 -Tim Gajser Valkenswaard 2015 MXGP of Trentino - Italy_1351Tim Gajser will be looking to extend his winning streak to five this season with Honda Gariboldi Racing and the CRF250RW at the MXGP of Latvia this weekend.

The Kegums track, situated just under an hour from the centre of Riga, played host to the Motocross of Nations last year where Gajser proved his pace in the qualification race, even though he was riding with two fractured vertebra, an injury that prevented him from racing on Sunday.

This year, although the track isn’t his favourite, the young Slovenian who is in the form of his life is aiming to continue the momentum of the past few races and earn himself his next win of the year. This good form has also seen Gajser move closer to the lead of the MX2 World Championship.

Last time out, Jorge Zaragoza had one of his best races of the season, running firmly within the top ten in the first moto; something he’ll be looking to replicate this weekend at the Baltic event.

MX2 Free Practice will commence at 1015hrs local time on Saturday with Sunday’s two races set to start at 13:15hrs and 16:10hrs local time.

Giacomo Gariboldi, Team Principal
“With Tim, everything is going in the right direction now and with three Grand Prix wins in a row it’s like a dream. We know he likes Latvia as he rode well there in qualifying for the Nations last year, even though he had two fractured vertebra, so I’m sure he will be just as strong this weekend. His confidence is so high and he is riding very smart and using his head so it’s just fantastic to see him winning.”

Tim Gajser, no.243
“Every win gives you a little more motivation and confidence so yeah it’s a good feeling that I take into Latvia. Last year we had the Nations there and I had a pretty good qualification race, even though I had fractured vertebra in my back, so I’m really looking forward to it. It’s not deep sand like Lommel but it’s quite sandy. It’s not my favourite ground, but anyway we will train in the sand a little and just do our best.”

Jorge Zaragoza, no.101
“The sand is always difficult for me but I raced last year in the Nations and I like the track. The sand is not so deep so I hope to have a good weekend there. I crashed at the start of race two last weekend, but in race one the speed was good and I was fighting in the top ten, so I want to keep this level going, make no mistakes and finish in the top ten. This is the goal at this time.”
