Toni Bou speaks after Italian GP

Toni Bou Trial 2014-06-04It was a strange day for reigning and already seven times FIM Trial World Champion Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa at yesterday’s Italian GP, as he started the event not wearing the black series leader’s bib. Beaten by his arch rival Adam Raga – Gas Gas at the last round in Corsica just seven days earlier, Bou momentarily surrendered the distinctive over-garment that has become so synonymous with him over him over a prolonged period, but will wear it again at the next Grand Prix in Belgium in July.

Bou was obviously pleased to have this important symbol back in his care as he explained after his win at the Italian GP. “Again it has been a difficult Trial especially on the first lap as Adam (Raga) was riding well and I was certainly feeling the pressure. I knew it was important to win here today and to take back the black bib and the lead in the championship, as now we have a one month break when I need to look at everything to make sure that I am stronger during the second half of the season.”

Bou: “The problem with my ribs has not helped, but now I am fit again and ready to resume some proper training so I can hopefully ride at my best level in Belgium and the other remaining rounds.”
