After a strong 1-1-2 scorecard during last weekend’s French MX Elite race in Gueugnon, Xavier Boog is looking forward to the third MXGP race of the season. Boog also scored the overall MX1 win in his domestic series. 24MX Honda Racing’s youngster Jens Getteman decided to sit out the third overseas race. Getteman injured his wrist in Qatar and needs more rest to be fully fit for the start of the European tour in Arco di Trento.

The first South-American stop takes the best motocross riders in the world to Beto Carrero where the track is hosted in the confines of a popular theme Park. For Boog it will be a happy memory to return to the place where he scored his maiden MX1 moto win in 2012. Brazil produced some amazing result for Steven Lettani’s squad in the past as well. Clément Desalle scored his second GP win in the 2009 “Mundial de MX”, and Davide Guarneri posted a fine sixth place in 2010.

Xavier Boog started his 2014 MXGP campaign under par with a very mediocre 17th place. But a solid double top ten and good speed in the MX Elite show that the 24MX Honda rider is gaining momentum. Team mate Jens Gettteman marked the best pre-qualifying in his young career at the highest level in Qatar. While his strong 11th place in time practice confirmed the progress Getteman has made unfortunately he also picked up a nagging wrist injury. Since rest is the only effective remedy Jens and the team decided to let Beto Carrero pass.

Xavier Boog: “It’s going to be interesting to go back to Brazil. I’m looking forward to see how the track will be, but it’s always a highlight on the GP calendar anyway. The crowd is so passionate and loud there, it really gives you goose bumps! The track conditions we experienced in France this weekend where quite similar to what we can expect in Beto Carrero. With only one race in preparation for the start of the first MXGP conditions were not to my advantage but having gained more race rhythm and with additional suspension testing behind me I feel well prepared.”

Jens Getteman: “I feel that my wrist is improving day after day. That’s positive, also I can maintain my shape with physical training. Luckily, I might add! Because apart from resting there’s nothing I can do to regain full fitness for my wrist. It’s disappointing not to be in Brazil this weekend, but the gamble was simply too big. With the current state of my wrist I might be able to do an okay job, but we’re not 100% sure. So there was always (going to be) the risk of making things a lot worse and especially so early in the season there was no point. Now all my focus is on Arco di Trento for the fourth GP of the season.”
