Team CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit rider Arnaud Tonus will make his comeback to racing this weekend at the penultimate round of the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship in Great Britain.
The amiable Swiss rider, who has missed most of the MX2 World Championship this season due to injury, has now recovered and, after three weeks of intensive training, he feels ready to return to racing for the last two GPs of the season. “It’s great to be back on a bike, as I have been five months off and that was very, very long. I already have a good feeling on the bike, but I know that it will be tough physically as I only started training three weeks ago, when the doctors gave me the all-clear. And when you’re training alone on a track that’s so much different to racing, so I don’t have a real goal for Matterley Basin this weekend,” admitted Arnaud, who has spent five months in hospitals and rehabilitation centres. “I had some troubles with the leg I broke at the Motocross of Nations, as I cracked the bone again during the practice session at the first GP in Qatar and it was painful. The doctors didn’t want to take out the pin too early, as the bone was not strong enough, so I had to wait a few more months before they did so. I took the opportunity to have a shoulder surgery during this break, so now I feel ready and I want to thanks the staff of the hospital de la Tour in Geneva who helped me to recover so well. I went there every day, and worked with the physiotherapists to recover as soon as possible.”
As preparation for his return to racing this weekend Arnaud went to several practice tracks with his teammate Alessandro Lupino and got acquainted with the latest evolution of the Pro Circuit Kawasaki KX250F. “I didn’t have the opportunity to work together with the team due to my injuries; so racing will be the best way to learn from each other, and to discover the bike. I just did a few laps with my teammate’s KX250F, and I was amazed by the last evolution compared to my training bike ! I need to get used to it, and I will do my best; I want to take the last GPs as the best opportunity to prepare for 2014, and I want to thank the team and our sponsors for their continued support throughout the year. They helped to keep me motivated, and for sure I was lucky to have a two year deal with them,” concluded the 22 year old Swiss champion.
